Biocompatible and gentle on your natural tooth

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics and is made using CAD/CAM technology. These onlays and crowns are made from high-strength, all-ceramic materials that are biocompatible, meaning they’re safe, non-toxic, and well-tolerated by gum and bone tissues. Unlike metal restorations, ceramic crowns don’t conduct heat or cold, reducing sensitivity and helping the restored tooth feel natural. CEREC is a wonderful option for teeth that have existing Mercury/Amalgam fillings, as we are able to remove the mercury and restore the tooth, all in a single visit.

Preserving your natural tooth structure

Because CEREC uses precise digital scanning and milling, we can conserve more of your healthy tooth. Less drilling means less trauma to the underlying tooth structure and a stronger foundation for long-term health. This conservative approach helps your tooth stay vital and resilient — even after decay or fracture. The same-day approach also allows less trauma to the teeth, as we don’t have to place and remove temporary restorations. We use a camera to scan the tooth following tooth preparation, and then our dental team carefully custom designs each dental restoration using the CAD/CAM technology. The ceramic is then milled precisely according to the specifications of the design and polished to mimic the feel and appearance of your natural teeth.
