SUPPORTIVE CARE  • ORAL SURGERY

IV Vitamin C for Oral Surgery

An optional supportive service for selected patients having a tooth extraction, dental implant surgery, or cavitation surgery.

VITAMIN C • IV

A coordinated
three-infusion plan

  • BEFORE SURGERY

Scheduled in advance, if appropriate for you.

  • SURGERY DAY

Only when your surgical and anesthesia plan allows.

  • FOLLOWING DAY

    A follow-up infusion, when appropriate.

Support tailored to your surgical care

Your dentist will review whether this optional service fits your health history, procedure, and overall care plan.

How the schedule works

When appropriate, the preferred schedule is an infusion before surgery, on the day of surgery, and the following day. Your timing and dose are individualized.

  • BEFORE

    Planned in advance

  • SURGERY DAY

    If cleared for same-day timing

  • FOLLOWING DAY

    Based on your care plan

What the evidence says

Vitamin C is involved in normal collagen formation and tissue repair. Research on vitamin C and oral surgery is still developing. Some small dental studies have explored vitamin C, often taken by mouth.

Those studies do not establish that this three-infusion IV schedule improves surgical outcomes. IV vitamin C is optional and cannot guarantee faster healing or prevent complications.

Your safety comes first

Before scheduling, tell us about your health history and all medicines and supplements you take.

Please let us know if you have or have ever had:

• Kidney disease or reduced kidney function

• Kidney stones, especially oxalate stones
• An iron-overload condition such as hemochromatosis • G6PD deficiency
• A current cancer treatment plan • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, or supplements • Planned blood or urine glucose testing, or use of a glucose meter

Some vitamin C doses can affect certain glucose tests. If you are having IV sedation or general anesthesia, follow your fasting instructions exactly; we will coordinate whether a same-day infusion is appropriate.

Questions about IV vitamin C?

Ask about this service during your surgical consultation. Your clinician will review your health history and discuss whether it is suitable for you.

IV vitamin C is an optional adjunct. It does not replace dental treatment, prescribed medicines, or your post-operative instructions.
